The Underwater Speleology Center at ORDA CAVE is a world renowned cave diving school. Regular international seminars for cave diving safety and IANTD, TDI, CMAS and NASE cave instructor development courses take place in Orda Cave.
The Underwater Speleology Center at ORDA CAVE is a scientific research center which explores underwater caves of Perm karst region. In cooperation with the Mining Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Perm State University, we provide geological, physical, chemical and biological research. The Orda Cave survey includes a variety of surface and underwater experiments and research works such as topographic mapping, monitoring the movement of groundwater, photo and video filming, screening of water, rocks and sediments samples.
Orda Cave inspires divers for record achievements to the limit of human capabilities in ice-cold water and in complete darkness. Four free diving projects were successfully realized at the Underwater Speleology Center.
Cave diving is the most extreme kind of scuba diving but we try to make the cave more accessible for common people. The Underwater Speleology Center supports development and popularization of speleo tourism. Our goal is to open the hearts and minds of those not involved in cave diving or the speleo world by showing the hidden beauty of an underground and underwater world. In 2016 in cooperation with the Perm Regional Ministry of Sports and Tourism we developed a new speleological route in a dry part of the cave. World class broadcasting companies make documentary movies about Orda Cave at the base of the Center. Also the team of the Center has their own underwater photography and videography project – Prometheus. The goal of the project fundamentally includes a team of experienced and specifically trained cave divers taking new quality of photographs in the underwater portions of cave by using newly developed, high output underwater lighting systems. This project was inspired by a legend about Prometheus, who had given fire and knowledge to mankind.
