Do you know Alexander Akivis? No? Then we are coming to you. With a story about how for many years now not a single Russian Freediving Championship according to FF rules has been held without this man, and even at regular club starts you can often see his radiant smile. Shooting from the shore, from the side, underwater, from the depths, from the bottom of the pool, in the thickets of the underwater forest, in the corals, at the competition rope, from the side, from above, from below - terabytes of underwater photos - this is all Akivis!
Diving with each (!) athlete, he does more breath-holding dives during the competition than any other participant in the starts, even the safety ones. Alexander is an absolute all-rounder, he dives and shoots in any conditions: from tropical seas to harsh, ice-covered Russian reservoirs. Observing the most interesting things at freediving competitions with his own eyes, with the help of his camera he gives everyone else the opportunity to see the very essence of freediving. We will not lie if we say that, among other things, thanks to Alexander Akivis, Russian freediving has become spectacular and bright.
Alexander is a creative person. His interests are not limited to reportage shooting and competitive shots, he also takes pictures for the soul. He will show us his favorite photo "with a story" on the big screen when he receives his well-deserved award. And he will tell us why this particular photo is especially dear to him.
For many years of contribution to the development of freediving spectacularity, for inexhaustible optimism and creative approach to his favorite business, on Saturday, February 22, on the main stage of Gostiny Dvor, we will present Alexander Akivis with our underwater "Oscar", and he already has all the freediving love.

P.S. It was not so easy to find photos of Alexander himself at work, he is usually on the other side of the camera. But we tried.
The show "Heroes of the Depth" will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 17:00 on the stage of the Gostiny Dvor in Moscow. Any guest of the Moscow Dive Show 2025 can become a spectator of the show, just buy an entrance ticket to the exhibition.
