On Friday, February 20, at 1:00 PM, the Moscow Dive Show 2026 will take place on stage.
The team from the Russian Geographical Society's Underwater Research Center is implementing the "Reflection of the Baltic Sky" project, aimed at searching for and examining aircraft from the Red Banner Baltic Fleet that crashed over the Gulf of Finland during the Great Patriotic War. Extensive work has already been completed as part of the project, including extensive search operations and diving surveys of the discovered objects.
In 2025, one of the project's main objectives will be to conduct underwater artistic photography of aircraft and their wreckage recovered from the seabed. As part of this collaboration, renowned underwater photographer Andrey Nosik was invited to join the expedition and became a full participant in the project.
An expedition to examine a number of objects lying on the bottom of Koporskaya Bay in the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea took place in the second half of May. The timing of the expedition was not accidental. The second half of May in the Baltic is a time when the weather begins to improve, but the water remains cold and, consequently, clear. A prolonged cool spring in 2025 meant that the water temperature at depths of 10 meters was only 3 degrees Celsius. We were treated to excellent visibility, rare for the Baltic Sea! Our team took advantage of this, capturing numerous photographs.
We'll hear more about this project during the RGS Underwater Research Center team's presentation on stage, and the resulting photographs will be displayed on the big screen.
